General

Q. How come you are selling stuff? You selling out to the mighty greenback?

A. Except that Dave is mighty and probably has a green back (and a green face, hands and arse).., no. We had a good think before embarking on this venture, and decided that it would be great to see this miniature in production, and that making this happen was well within the boundaries of our frothing mission. Besides, we'll need to shift an awful lot of them to recoup the costs of running the site (if we do, we'll have to think of a creative way to plough the money back into frother projects).

Q. Postage is free?

A. Well its included in the price tag, yes. For all the sets.

Payment

Q. Isn't there another way to pay?

A. No.

Q. Really? How come?

A. Did we mention we weren't a shop? Paypal is easy and convenient for us, and most people buying miniatures online have an account already. Taking other methods of payment would be an unwanted hassle for us- we don't have a PO Box address for a start, and noone wants to splash their home address on the internet, or be responsible for chasing up cheques. We'd rather be frothing!

That said, we want you to have this mini, so if you really can't do it the Paypal way, get in touch and we'll try to sort something out for you.

Q. Wouldn't it be easier if you had friendly frother in Australia/Germany/Singapore/USA/Ry'leh distributing these figures?

A. You volunteering?

Sculpting Competition Winners Sets

Q. How can I get the other figures from the competition?

A. Well not from us, but if enough people clamour for a figure it might just get put into production by its owner. Try mounting a campaign on the Miniatures Froth Forums and see who bites.

Kev White is already selling his 2nd place figure "Alice and the Cheshire Cat" from his own Hasslefree Miniatures, in case thats the one you were after. Several of the other entrants own their own companies so might take a chance on a figure if thought it would be popular.

Q. Why the limited run man?

A. Well, much as we look down on limited edition figures, in this case it would be slightly taking the p*** to demand exclusive rights to the winners sculpts until the end of time. The idea of selling the figures, as well as raising us some much-needed funds, was to allow amateur sculptors to get their first figures into production and know that people bought them.

Q. What about when the time runs out?

A. Well, on January 28th we'll shut up shop and the sets will be worth a mint on ebay. We'll be keeping a few back for next time we run into legal difficulties. Again we know that Kev White intends to sell his winning Alice as soon as we are done with it, though he intends to do some conversion work on it first so if you want this version, get this set. You might want to contact any other winners and see what their plans are if for some reason you don't want to buy the sets from us #sob#.

Q. Why hasn't my order been shipped yet?

If you included a pre-order of the Sculpting Competition Runners Up Set in your order, then we will wait until these are ready to be despatched before sending your shipment. Unfortunately there isn't any way to Paypal to delay te payments until we are ready to ship the figures out.

Q. Any amateur winners?

There were a lot of cool amateur figures inside and outside of the winners sets. To the best of our knowledge Ming-Hua Kao and Kai Teck have never had a sculpt in production before, while Brad Shier is a professional sculptor but not (at time of writing) in the fantasy 28s field.

Q. Cool, when is the next competition?

A. Not sure, but not till the middle of 2005 for sure. Keep an eye on the front page and forums for news, and in the mean time take a look at the 1listsculpting group, where lots of sculptors (professional and amateur) hang out and exchange ideas.

Q. And the theme?

A. Again, we are still recovering from the 2004 competition, but if you have ideas for a new theme why not post them in the forums? Even if they are stupid ideas!

"Dave", the FU!UK Orc

Q. Who sculpted the mini?

It was sculpted by Seth Nash of The Assault Group, and the mould was made by Pete Brown of mouldmaker.com- both are regulars on our miniatures Froth Forums (as waxfive and peteb). Oh, and the figs are cast by Sam Nash.

Q. Who painted the mini?

A. The figure was painted by three times Golden Demon winner Matt Parkes, who also runs with The Assault Group posse.

Q. Is it a collectors piece?

A. Yes and no. Of course it is a unique figure, well up to collectors standards. It isn't a limited edition, but I suspect we aren't going to be keeping a back catalogue for years and years. If the mould breaks and sales have tailed off to the point where it isn't worth making another one, then its a limited edition and we'll let you all know how many there are so you can mention it when you sell the spare ones on ebay.
