Not really. The problem with grass courts are that they need to be maintained 24/7 to a very high standard. Outside the posh tennis clubs, grass courts weren't that well looked after and were useless after it rained, or dried out during hot summers. All park-keepers used to do was mow them. I remember one in a park, in the late 70s, when I was a nipper. I think it got turned into a clay/concrete one a couple of years later.

I think the US has more capable naval assets now than the RN had in 1982. The US had more capable naval assets in 1982 than the RN.

Britain hasn't had any proper fleet carriers since the 70s. A handful of helicopter carriers and short deck carriers deploying Harriers wasn't a credible alternative.
