I don't think that's the point. If this was a case of 'Big Businessman avoids taxes' most of us drones would just shrug - we know they do. That's the capitalist world we have allowed to exist - and it probably wouldn't dent his support much. Lots of Americans wish THEY could avoid taxes.

The point is, it looks like the reason he didn't pay taxes is that he is a shitty businessman, making losses hand over fist. THAT would be a small but useful dent in his reputation among voters who think The Apprentice was real life, the 'stupid cunt demographic'.

'Donald Trump - shifty Cunt' is fine with a lot of his voters, but 'Donald Trump - crappy businessman' may well come as a nasty little shock to them.

The Economist magazine has been saying he's a crappy businessman for years. They reckon that he's be considerably richer if he'd just invested all the money he got from his dad in the stock market.

That anyone thinks he’s a successful businessman is one of the world’s great mysteries. A string of bankruptcies, Chapter 11 claims buggers any claim to success. Casinos and hotels going bust, the devastation he wrought in Atlantic City, etc, etc. Oddly enough his most profitable current investment is in a couple of office buildings, he objected to and has had no input into apart from an initial stake. He’s even pissed up the money he made on the apprentice. The original Trump Tower is about the only Trump managed asset that makes a profit and credit for that in part goes back to the pusillanimous shits on the NYC council that gave him such eye watering tax breaks.

He'd have found a way to lose that money too, due to a combination of impulsiveness and bad advice, and then blamed someone else for the loss, like Steve Bannon talking about his dad.

He did lose that money, he lost it in the 90s and he cashed out his stock market portfolio a few years back if the NYT is to be believed.

He did claim he was making some money from his remaining stocks, but Covid-19 ruined it all, explaining why he's been promoting all these shitty "cures" and downplaying masks.

He reminds me of a former employer: in the last few days of the store, he was punching one of the frozen yogurt machines and on the phone complaining to corporate that they had guaranteed him he'd be making money as a franchisee. :roll:

In two years, Trump Lite had managed to bring down a reasonably run store by:

1) Firing a salaried manager, due to the machinations of a manager and staff in his other store, to be replaced by a revolving group of min wage employees playing at manager, 'cause he liked playing favorites, based on the last person who spoke to him. :roll:

2) Hiring people who had no work ethic, but just liked showing up for the paycheck. So long as they never contradicted/argued with him - the case of the former manager - or told him bad news, they were allowed to keep their jobs, until they failed in a spectacular fashion!

3) Throwing money at friends and family to fix things, as he was miserly, and when nothing was resolved, he'd eventually give up.

4) Inadequately communicating with his employees and being a condescending twat when things didn't work out.
