Richard Curtis shouldn't be allowed near such things, and I do agree that Van Gogh was played well. The research into the character and his world was well done, but that's about it really
And what's worse, James Corden's in the next one

I should add that I think Smith continues to shine.

To me it was thin on plot and its only real strength was the performance of van gough.
However that said at times I wondered why they just didn't do one of those docu-films as thats what it almost felt like. Not really a Who eppisode at all. More a homage, and the only real Who bit was trying to describe that he wasn't really mad - he really was waving things at invisable stuff. Oh and he was just a depressed missunderstood man - throw in similarities with the Dr himself.
A yawn fest although it helped pass the time.
I have to say I used to like the really old eppisodes where the tardis would almost take the Dr places for him to help a race out at times not allowing him to travel where he wanted - a bit tempremental almost. Todays eppisode was a bit 'murder she wrote' esqu in its start.
Oooh what do we have here - a monster at the window, oooh we must investigate. And just look at that, my side-kick suddenly has a massive passion for art.

well to be fair his side-kick suddenly has no memory of her dead fiance... as Rory has been erased from history, she maybe read up on art instead of going down the pub with him...

I thought it was so-so. Portrayal of Van Gogh was excellent. Invisible, blind, space chicken was just plain daft. Bill Nighy was totally wasted.

I thought it was passable as a filler episode. Ok to watch, and a bit sentimental. However when you think that this is a kids programme ( yes we all know it is) it could be a nice way to get kids interested in things like Van Gogh.
Wasnt the original idea for Dr Who to be semi educational and less BEMs?
