Are Dark Matter and/or Killjoys any good?

Post your views about what's on the telly-box (not about transvestites, unless it is a programme about transvestism, and even that is borderline unless there are also ladyboys).

I do prefer evil aliens to corporate CEOs though. :(

"The Expanse" has nasty corporations, A "Cold War" between Earth and the Martian Republic and also an alien presence which is poorly understood by all involved.

Oh, and an underclass of "Belters" working the outer planets and asteroids - Shame they are all made to look like rave hippies :(

I just watched the first season of Killjoys, it was pretty good I thought. The female lead was a bit over sexualised and any potentially meaningful moments that could have highlighted some characterisation and acting were ignored in preference for cool one liners, sexiness and slow motion swagger, with distracting music blaring over her best scenes, but the stories were interesting, full of intrigue and world building, and while it's not exactly deep I thought it was a fun watch.
I just wish it had aliens. :(

I just watched Dark Matter seasons 1 and 2. I thought it was really good.
The acting and fight scenes were really impressive.
I especially loved the Android. She did a great job bringing a sympathetic machine character to life, voice, mannerisms, just excellent.
The story of the characters struggling to come to terms with their past is engrossing and really quite profound for an action packed Sci-Fi, series and I hope there is a lot more to come.

I just watched the first season of The Expanse and really enjoyed it. Very Noir detective story, great acting and an interesting plot. Thank you for recommending it.

Glad you liked it.
Season 2 remains pretty strong and season 3 is due in the first quarter of 2018, lets hope they don't fuck it up.
I think the series profits from having mostly unknown actors / actresses, as opposed to "Oh, they were in BSG, so they will be great in more Sci Fi". Although me and others who have read the books still think Alex is FAR too handsome (supposed to be a paunchy balding nondescript middle aged man), but the actor playing Amos has nailed the role...

If the series entices you into reading the books (Season 1 is bits of books 1 & 2 +/- various bits and pieces), do NOT bother beyond book 4, it turns into very tedious malarky...

I was watching Dark Matter, but it's really deteriorated into a very kitschy space-opera. The Expanse on the other hand is magnificent, especially on a big screen, just not enough of it.
Hey -- there's plenty of time for Klinsmann to figure out who's our best player..............................................And cut him.

It's just amazing the quality of the TV science fiction we get these days.
Hopefully The Expanse will be popular enough to encourage more high quality TV programs based on Science Fiction literature.

I still like Dark Matter, even if it is more kitschy than the Expanse it's a far cry from the completely OTT stylised Killjoys or even old programs like Trek/Babylon 5, I just hope there's a big enough market to support the number and quality of shows we get at the moment.
We really are spoiled, the quality of show we get today would, I think, have had a loyal cult following among Sci-Fi fans in the old days.
