Halfling Snipers... plus others.

It's been a long time since I worked on any of the standard infantry, for my army so it is nice to be able to show off the command squad for the third infantry platoon:



I have now started working on all of the heavy weapon teams for the platoon... five in all (two for the infantry squads and 3 for the heavy weapon squad).

I thought I'd get some images of the army, as it stands at the moment. There is still a bit to go but this is where it's at :

I still need to sort out the third infantry platoon and the transport for the Infantry Company and Veterans... but I'm almost there ... well, apart from paint .

Cheers . I've started conversion work on the heavy weapon troopers for the third platoon (ten Squats; five gunners and five loaders) but have also been a bit distracted by these guys:



These casts were sent to me by Macrocosm. They are from the ones I sculpted for the kickstarter and I have actually put a bit of paint on them (primed and I have started the black on the Commissar)... I couldn't help myself .

Ace job! The paint really brings them to life.

All painted so it's back to sculpting now :



I decided that I'd find a place in this army for an existing unit, also made up of my own sculpts so this small unit of Ratling Snipers will be joining my command platoon :



I've painted the bases so they now match those of the Squats.

What stands out for me in the paintjobs is the lack of black hair on any of them, is it fluff that space dwarves don't have black hair? All the browns and oranges does give them a nice uniform look, which is sort of cool. Is it intentional? Maybe I'm wrong but looking at the guys you've got painted in your links to your top down images of your army I don't see any black hair? Saving that for space chaos dwarfs?

You'll probably notice a complete lack of black on most of my painted stuff... because black is difficult to paint and highlight... so I tend to avoid it .

I am sure that there are one or two troops with black hair/equipment but generally, I try to avoid it because I don't like painting black .

My Dwarfs tend to have red/brown/ginger/blonde hair because I tend to treat them as Vikings and those sort of hair colours are prevalent in Norway/Denmark etc .
