Perry stuff and Bretonnians?

Postby Badger Loving Fluffster » Fri Nov 08, 2013 12:59 pm

I've been getting back into painting my old mid 90's Bretonnians of late, but I'm missing some figs, namely 9 metal bowmen (3 command and 6 others) and a unit or two spearmen / halbardiers.

I really do not like the newer Bretonnian figs, they just don't have the same feel, and the older stuff on flea bay is insanely expensive. So what is the best proxy? How well do Perry plastics fit in? Or are there any other ranges that do the trick? They will need to fit the look of the 90's range Brets to a large extent as I will mix the figs in to existing units.

Any thoughts?

Foundry's medieval range should probably fit in quite well since it's also by the perrys

Dunno if they'd fit sizewise but the Perry plastics, in themselves, are excellent figures.

I have some of the GW metals and the BTD MoA infantry and they are a decent match.
I'd recognise that sound anywhere! That's the sound of a hundred heads deflating.

Thanks for the suggestions guys

Foundry look th epart but I had heard that they were small before. Not that a couple of shorter soldiers is out of the question, but if they look the wrong scale then it does bugger things up a bit

I had completely forgotten about BTD. Are they still a viable option? I thought there was a lot of tom foolery going on with them?

Anyway, they do look like they are very much of a similar style so I will definitely have a look at them

Anyone got the Perry plastics and the 90's Brets for a sty;e/size match?

Pretty sure they're going to be too small, based on my comparisons to my mostly c90's Empire. I can take a photo for you when I get home tonight if no FUUKer beats me too it. NB: depending on your taste they /might/ look ok in separate units on the same table. Not in the same unit though, from what I recall.

Here are some current empire vs perry:

But those might be a bit larger than the older GW? Not sure.

Anyway, I have a brettonian plastic 5th ed box set I'll take a pic of later tonight for a more exact comparison.

Thanks for that Nate

Leaves me in a bit of a hole... Foundry are too small, BTD I looked at their site and they are a bit shit. Was really hanging my hopes on the Perry stuff

If anyone does have a 90's Bret comparison that'd be appreciated. But as you say, maybe as a separate unit they will be fine
