dude, the trolls are ace, just as the ogress ...
you might consider a troll chef rather than a hobbit chef, cooking up a spicy elf stew.

great stuff overall, beyond my price range currently -- -- but i'll keep an eye on your sculpts when the right moment comes. :D

anevilgiraffe - Well, the way I plan to do them is to make it very easy for the buyer to convert them into more Sci-Fi figures, just the addition of a gun would be enough I think for that barbaric, crude look! I know its probably a stupid thing to do to stay away from Sci-Fi, but its just down to personal preference really...

cameosis - Thanks man! :D

Anyway lads, update time!

Dokta Shamadoo Is just about finished, just one foot and the detail on his arm to do, and in only 2 pieces!

As well as a new idea... yet another race!

I could go on extensively about where my ideas came from and suchlike, but I'm tired and honestly cannot be bothered, so without further a-do, the first prototype for Chinese Goblins!

I apologise for the crappy phone photos... I will try and get some decent ones tomorrow when it is light!

To go alongside these critters, I give you the "big guy" unit, the Oni (which I do believe is Japanese, but Japan and China is around the same area, and who cares? Its fantasy ;) )

So what do you think folks? Is this an idea to keep on with?

cameosis - Hahahah! Touche ;) Maybe i should reanme them for now "Eastern Goblins" ? The plan was to have the Oni travel from a strange group of islands across the sea... so it kind of fits :P Any more guidance on which direction to carry them?

Your Oni looks like a demonic sumo, sort of like E. Honda from Street Fighter gone bad. 8)

Yes Oni is a Japanese "demon/ogre" but depictions are very similar from japan right the way through to Turkey historically. I'll dig out some ref pics when it's not 1.30am

A bit of googling found these classic ghosts/demons from the Chinese Underworld.

Then there's this Balinese rakshasa:

As said above, the similarity in imagery can be seen throughout Asia, so I'd say the oni or whatever you wish to call them (Yaoguai, maybe?) should fit right in.

Check out Rackham's oriental goblinoid range, both for inspiration and unnecessary and unintentional repetition :)
