That one's a bit better, but still not a patch on the old metal one :(

Poo sums it up.

Too spiky, too beasty, too costly

this way it's harder to get substitute models for these massive monsters, unless you use action men in goat/hamster suits
this also makes life more difficult for companies like chapterhouse and so one, one can easily make a space marine shoulder pad and make a mould out of it, but a big monster takes up a lot of resin and bits

anyway, never liked the big skaven models old or new, these ones are no exception
and mice without fur all over the body are rubbish, are these metro-skaven which do Brazilian waxing?

I actually like much of the new GW stuff. This however is absolute shite for what it is supposed to be. Its just not ratty, not in the slightest bit. What was the brief? I can see how you could make a badly proportioned rat, a weapon that was stupidly big, or something like that, but how can you make a rat lord that doesn't look anything like a rat. Its like making an orc god that looks like a gerbil.

As much as I dislike this model, to be fair the original version was also pretty crap and not at all ratty:

Hush, you! It has hooves and horns, just like a rat! :demonic:

I have a certain nostalgia for it as it is one of the models (along with the Doomwheel and Deathmaster Sniktch) in the leaflet they gave me that grabbed my eye when I first went into a GW store... I'm not sure if they were promoting Skaven at the time or something, because the examples from other armies were decidedly bland.

I know I'll probably get a load of abuse for saying so but I really like it. If it actually looked like a big rat it would just be a bit shit. It's a horned demon, a massive, warped, killing machine - they've never said it was just a giant rat. It's described as being hugely powerful but still agile, and I think it's physique portrays that.
Granted, foot-on-glaive is a bit daft but you don't have to pose it like that.
