Minifigs Great War of the Worlds

Postby The Dozing Dragon » Fri Nov 22, 2013 12:33 pm

I got some of the new pieces from Dave at Caliver and posted them on the blog. The Steve Dean paint jobs are superb but don't show the size of these minis! The Brits are reinforced by the Edison-Farnsworth Disintegration Ray on Tripod...simply superb. More on the way and I will update the post once arrived.

I do need to update the pics but have just had an operation on my right hand so pretty useless for a while with the setting up of lighting etc....

some of these new figures seem to have been sculpted either using the old Valley of The Four Winds range Swamplords as dollies or at least inspiration.............. the nostalgia brain cells would love to get hold of all the VFW stuff again to paint up - the great bell tower and the wind demon chariot were outside my pocket money range at the time but the weird and wacky stuff I had tons of!

Minifigs have re-released a few of the old school figs from various ranges http://www.miniaturefigurines.co.uk/Catalogue.aspx?ScaleID=3&CategoryID=35 - if they sell more they'll release more......Dave said they don't have all the masters so ebay is the best bet but they go for silly prices sometimes

I have vague memories of something to do with Dye4minis and the rest of the range being in the USA but not currently available, I chatted with Tom Dye a few years back and he was adamant they had a full set of molds for the VFW stuff and Aureola Recocco ranges...................

I did get a few castings from those molds via a guy who was helping him (name escapes me at the mo....just finished 5th night shift in a row) - molds were a little shot but serviceable. The ones Dave is doing is using the masters for new molds I believe. I've picked up more of the Martian minis and will be posting in a mo...

pics is always good, I have a real nostalgia soft spot for VFW as it was the first thing I got into, the figures certainly don't stack up to modern standards but they always painted up a treat. Its a shame they are releasing bits and pieces to see how it goes, with a more robust group to order from they'd be more tempting! see how the cash goes....... may have to order some!
