Kodiak bear

Postby Lovejoy » Tue Oct 08, 2013 5:48 pm

I apologise in advance that this isn't a miniature - but it's sculpted by Nick Bibby, a name a lot of us will know from his early Citadel work. Anyway, I just saw this sculpt and it totally blew me away - a life-size Kodiak bear:

And I thought his Great Spined Dragon was an impressive bit of work!

Impressive but no use at all, you would never be able to get it onto the table.

But if you do get it on the table - auto win! There is no safe distance from a bear...

Life sized?! More like 1.5 to 2 times the real size. Unless Nick Bibby is a really small man...

Admittedly from Wiki so might need better sourcing but "When standing fully upright on its hind legs, a large male could reach a height of 3 m (10 ft)" and it's on a ledge a good 9-10" off the floor to start with...

I dunno - Kodiaks can be 10 feet tall when standing upright... given Nick's standing on the ground and the sculpt is slightly raised, I reckon it's life size.

Edit: Ninja'd!
