I have a bunch of Forge-fathers and Rebs on the way at some point and I am really looking forward to them. Mantic have done a good job keeping everything updated and some of the pics that are getting released are very nice indeed. If I was an Orc fan, I'd be well impressed with the recent pix (the little goblin vehicles may yet end up as part of my collection at some point) but the rebs look brilliant.

As for the material, Mantic have been using it for ages now and have ironed out almost all of the bugs. If these are the same standard as the Dreadball stuff, I will be happy enough... and there is no reason why they shouldn't be.

Clean-up is a case of trimming off the mould lines rather than filing/sanding but apart from that, they clean up OK. You just need to make sure your scalpel is sharp and you are good to go.

I phoned Mantic last week and spent about twenty minutes discussing my own concerns following the SW issues. They were really helpful and confirmed that one of their execs has been sent to China to oversee final production to ensure everything is spot on from their perspective.

I'm in on this kick-starter, but if the quality is similar to their Chinese-manufactured goblins, I'll be asking for a refund.

(probably won't get it, but those gobbs are utter $%^73)

When I complained about the Goblins I was told,"Well they paint up ok". I'm glad I'm not the only person who thought they were shite.

The plastic goblins were a mixed bag - some were bad and others were awful.

Mantic themselves seem to be confident that their hard plastics from now on will be a great improvement over the goblins and men at arms.

I like the Orx/Orks/Orcs whatever. I'll agree with the mention above that they would look better with Brian Nelson heads. That guy was the best thing that ever happened to Orcs. Don't tell the folks on the Oldhammer boards I said so though.

That Orx leader really does have a lot of character. I'll be happy if the casts are as good or better than Dreadball.

Orx are great, though I painted the skin on mine Turquoise 'cause I didn't want to get stuck with a load more 'Orcs in space'. Already got a load of those.

Forge Fathers are good.

Undead wonderful.

Dwarves not that bad.

Elves quite nice in the flesh.

Goblins are pretty cr*p. Admittedly, I've had two sets. The ones I got in a mixed box look waxy and DON'T paint up well at all, I'm guessing that they're early Chinese ones, before they added quality control. Horrible details. I bought some hybrid ones too, but forgot I had them. These ones aren't as bad but still are nowhere as good as the rest of their range.

Just trimming the undead now. Fantabulous.
