If we're talking about the Naccara, they were Mongol war drums of huge size -- sometimes five feet tall or more. They were too heavy to be carried by a horse. They were carried by camels. In very ancient times they were carried in chariots rather than on camels.

Smaller Mongol drums which were carried on horses were usually conical rather than cylindrical.
