Forgot to mention this earlier, but Gomez did some of the better shiney surfaces I've seen of late in old fashioned metallics. Not chrome, but effective and worth checking out, imho

Can of spray chrome paint, simplest, shiniest way.

Then shade and detail over the top.

If you want chrome rather than a brushed metal.

Problem with trying to get a convincing chrome using metals is that the reflections are out of scale to the miniature. That means the shinier it is the less convincing it is. Thats why non metallic chrome looks better on minis. As long as its well done of course.
