I've ordered some fluffy shit off Ebay to see if I can make it into some sort of convincing web. I'm not holding out much hope but I'll give it a go.

I checked out a few of those tutorials as the results are fucking brilliant. I don't have an airbrush though and the models will end up on the gaming table too so webs that might blow away if you fart near them aren't really suitable.

Nip out down the bottom of the garden and root around in the shed

Plenty of real spider webs to borrow (with added authentic bits of insect)
