Yeah, its bloody brilliant
I would ask how you did it but we all know the smart arse clever bastard painters don't share these details with twats like me 'cause they are in the painters magic circle, the Colour Undercoating National Tutorage Society.
That being said
All painting is over a black undercoat, each metal plate was painted to completion before moving on to the next though that is just my preference.
Colours used for the shoulder, wrist and leg armour.
Boltgun Metal
Chainmail
Mithril Silver
also
Nuln Oil Wash
Aggrax Earthshade Wash
Thrakka Green Wash
Rust
Dark Flesh
Forgeworld Light Rust weathering powder.
Each plate was given a base coat of Boltgun Metal heavily thinned down this means that a couple of coats are needed to cover but the effect at the end is smoother.
Once dry I gave a couple of washed first with Nuln Oil and then with Aggrax Earthshade.
Then Boltgun Metal heavily thinned and this time taking most of the excess off with a tissue and building that layer up. Subsequent highlights were achieved by adding Chainmail in increasing amounts for each stage, again heavily thinned until I was using just Chainmail.
Because there isn't a huge difference between the base and highlight stage not too many steps were needed but I tried to make the highlights gradual working up to where I wanted the metal to be shiniest.
I picked out the rivets with black and before painting them first with the base colour and then a highlight of silver I added the rust.
This was done by thinning down to a consistency of little more than coloured water Dark Flesh and applied it around rivets and random places, I varied it a little by adding rust pigment here and there.
Once dried I thinned Thrakka Green down and added that randomly just to give a slight greenish tint here and there. Mithril Silver was used to edge highlight the plates to finish.
