I've always bought brushes in a brick and mortar shop as I tend want to at least see the brush before I buy, as I found with new brushes in stores there's always a few that don't look so good, split ends and stuff even if they're new. But the place I used to buy brushes is gone, and it's probably easier to get a decent brush online. So what do you guys do?

I've not bought a brush from a shop for many years. Too few places to buy from, unreliable stock levels and just plain inconvenient seeing as I very rarely go into the city centre. Also brushes in shops can be totally fucked as half of them don't have protective covers on them. Online, the brushes almost always turn up in good condition. Of course any brush you buy can look great on the day but fishtail the moment you put that first blob of paint on your Spaz Marinzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

I'll give Rosemary and co a stab then (pity they don't sell paint as well. Two lots of fucking postage again!). Ta everyone. :D

I don't know which paints you're using, but the Wamp store sells the Rosemary and co. brushes, as far as I can tell for the same price as their own webstore, as well as Vallejo paints, in case you want to cut down on shipping costs.

Might give the Rosemary & Co 33s a go myself. I have been disappointed with my usual W&N Cotman series IIIs of late; they seem to shed horribly and curl like mad, which never used to be a problem.

Only had one bad brush online. It was an army painter one that couldn't keep a point. It got replaced almost instantly though.

The bread an butter stuff gets done with Rosemary and co.

I have a couple of royal and langnickel mini majestic 30/0 monograms for the ninja stuff.

Hasslefree eyes are now hasslefree.

They fall into the above average, but cheaper than GW bracket

(That being said artstore.co.uk have some random selections at £2.00 at the moment)

What no second edit?

Went back to the forum I originally picked up my original rosemary and co shopping list from 2 years or so ago... Ok so I'm a part time painter, but they're still going strong..

Admittedly this copy paste job is from a 2 year old post, so prices will be out. I think I ended up with about 10 or so brushes from the below recommendations for about £15 delivered. :D

If you want the best combination of paint load and spring back. then I suggest that you look at the series 401 range of red sable blend. You can have a selection of 10 brushes between sizes 4/0 and 2 including postage for under £20. This is more than enough brushes for anyone.

Add to this a size 2,4 and 6 flat from the series 768 range

And for painting eyes with ease add a size 10/0 series 92 and you will have spent well under £30 and have a SERIOUS set of high quality brushes.
