Your one made mine look like the daubings of a 5 year old... Mine now looks like it was done by an embryo... Before it developed hands... Or a brain

Love these. Rally love them. I will steal them at salute.

Those look bloody excellent to me Mr Rae. Thanks so much for doing them and helping out the game.

@Duff: You won't be saying that if you see them in person. Seriously, it's just flat colours then a wash of Army Painter strong tone, then soft tone.

Edit: I didn't even paint the eyes...

It's like magic isn't it?
When I painted my own S&A troops I did the flat colours, washed with Devlan Mud and they looked great, I still feel a mug for doing all th highlights when I see how effective the basic job can be. Makes you wonder how some flip it up so badly.....

I fear I may be being very flattered by the photos. They did end up a bit muddier than what's on screen; could've gone with lighter base coats and more contrast. But I liked the washes because they show what I've sculpted, rather than my cack-handed brush strokes.

I've also noticed Poppy's bloody arm is broken in the photos. I had to do a quick (cack-handed) repair job when I packed them to send tomorrow but I hadn't realised it was broken in the photos.

From now on I'm going to paint small groups of figures, carefully.

It may be base coat and 2 washes, but it's done right - they look really good. You should see the ballsup I make of basecoat and 2 washes :(

I really need to know what you used to get that effect Andrew - I really like it!

I have them in hand now and they are just fantastic. How do you base them up as well?

Base coat, army painter strong tone, army painter soft tone. If I'd had more time I'd have highlighted between washes with the base coat colour. It's a bit random for my liking though so I'll need to experiment more before I'm happy.

The base was miliput to fill the slots, coat of GW textured paint, stippled with GW liquid green stuff. Coat of US Field Drab, dry brush light grey, wash thinned strong tone. Perhaps a few too many steps if you're short of time!

Glad you like them though. :)
