good thing it has Andrews name on it instead of Scibors. eh? I mean the paint is excellent - but that texture on the beard is silly....but hey don't critique one of the "standards"

I am especially enamored with the boring flat drapery of the cloak. good show!

Far prefer this sort of beard to the bloody mass of strands you tend to get these days - much more fun to paint, and usually looks infinitely better as far as I'm concerned.

I have to agree, I much prefer to paint on hair effects rather than have the sculptor try to do it for me, so I never quite got the lamprey criticism of Scibor's stuff. Saying that, Andrew does it far better than Scibor did. I think the double standard accusation has a nugget of truth to it though.

I also find the simple drapery of the cloth a refreshing change, so counts as a plus point for me.

Actually, Gloria, plenty people did stay they didn't like the figures, including yourself. I guess - unlike you - they didn't feel it necessary to say again. However, plenty of other people really like the figures too, so I feel justified in the decisions I've made.

Personally, I don't think it does look like a Scibor beard, but it does look like how I intended it. I sculpted what I'd want to paint, and these figures are that. That goes for the proportions, the chunky details, the 'silly' beards and the 'boring' cloaks. I'm not labouring under the misapprehension that I've sculpted realistic figures with realistic proportions and realistic drapery; these are stylised toy soldiers.

"RRRAAAARRRRR!" It's Oorik the Barbarian, ready to punch you in the face!

I'm fucking loving seeing what Andy makes of these figures. I think he's got the perfect balance between bright, 'boxed game' paintjobs and a bit of modern grittiness. Couldn't be happier.

Now just the elf to go!

Full of character but you really like big noses, don't you? They remind me a bit of old timey caricatures of Jews.
