IU's Fairy Tale

Still doing my bit for FrotherCulture, combined with recent acquaintance with the more interesting areas of Kpop, I stumbled across this short enigmatic piece:

Some searching revealed it to be a mashup of two mv's, made eight years apart. The first one, from 2011:

There's a lot going on there, so I won't comment, except to say that I'd looked at it briefly, some time ago, and dismissed the song as the kind of sugary aegyo/kawaii stuff I don't care for. I now see how it fits into the context of the story of a young, immature girl.

And there's a definite Tim Burton/Danny Elfman feel to both video and music; in fact, though I posted a shortened version, because it has subtitles, the original has an even more cinematic atmosphere, with end titles, deleted scenes, and outtakes, beginning at about 6:20:

Last year, a sequel was made -- or is it a "parallel"? You decide:

You'll need to turn on the captions for that one.
