I liked the TV show but have reservations as to how well they'll be able to pull off a movie. And it's a shame they didn't set it in Aus as so much of the show's character comes from the Aussie background.
Nice to see an Aussie show make the jump to the big screen though.

They've started showing the Miss Fisher Modern Murder TV series over here.

I was fucking amazed to discover it's fairly new. I thought it was some far-fetched old shite from the 80s, like Dempsey and Makepeace or CATS Eyes.

If that's the standard of current Aussie telly you have my sympathies.
Stone Mountain's OK with IP theft, so Bill deleted his thread to protect him from looking a cunt.

Well, most Aussie TV is a lot worse to be honest. it's certainly far fetched, she's very much a pulp heroine, a female James Bond with her own golden gun.

Well I saw the movie some time back and was disappointed, but I suppose it could have been worse. It's a shame they just don't seem able to stop themselves from being tongue in cheek about the pulp storylines and drifted a bit far from the mystery being the core of the show like it is on the tv series. It was much more an adventure plot in my opinion, very Indiana Jones inspired.
Not up to the standard of the tv show sadly.
A missed opportunity.
It would have been nice to have a sassy Aussie heroine do well in a movie but I guess that it got made at all is a small miracle!

Oh, modern mysteries, I should have read your post more carefully  , yes that is indeed dire. An insult to the original series which is about a rich lady detective in the twenties or thirties and much better, although still far-fetched.
