If it's an ego trip then surely they would care about 'legacy'. Ddep at least helps with Salute - was pm'd a couple of weeks back although am waiting for badges.

There's not point being egotistical about a website full of spam and at times brought to it's knees.

A genuine question - who holds control of the money?

Dd is the Treasurer...
but the server fees come out of Doc's account, so he lets it run for a few months and claims it back from Dd at intervals...

Its a hang-over from when we had a site but no money...

Our Lord Doc provided, whist we played free in the Forum of Eden. 0;)

Let's have a sculpting comp, raise lots of money and make Doc an offer he can't refuse!

tried that years ago...

Doc was in the desert, well in between jobs, and the devil (me :demonic:) came unto Him and offered him the riches of the world (the few thousands we had in the bank), if he'd up-date the site and sort-out a few niggles...

no dice...

I didn't get round to offering bread or whatever the other temptation was... wings... air-bags... i though if he doesn't need the money, he can He's obviously able to purchase his own wholemeal batch loafs, and elevator shoes...:|

The other option is to set up another account, get in touch with the providers and inform them of a change in who is paying them - tell Doc the forum has taken over payment and that he needs to get in touch with the providers for refunds if he continues to pay . . . .

I know it's a bit underhand but unless something is done Pete and Jon have to play Wacka-spam-bot before they can do anything else on here. :|

Alternatively we could start a FB petition . . . .

Yea, great idea...
Let's just rob the bloke who was kind enough to set us up in the forum in the first place...

Christ, Matt! I wouldn't have thought that even came close to legal- nor possible for that matter.

You must be able to change payment details?

Probably not without the correct information (security details, data protection, blah blah).

And either way, it's pretty fucking underhand.

Surely a better way to deal with the spambot invasion would be to add some sort of Captcha check for guest posters? I genuinely have no idea how easy this would be to implement but it could at least cut the frequency with which they get through. Actually, I've never posted as a guest so it could already be in place for all I know.
