@Woody, this was on a quiet is server. Played the same map with no troubles with more people on. Got the ge force 550 tdi. Only 4gb of ram though

Misread that in my sleep deprived stupor - thought you meant your 550ti had 4 gig of ram... which would be a complete waste. Realised now you referring to your system ram.

Upgrading the RAM to 8Gb would be the cheapest option then and should make a fair improvement gameplay

I'm running an I7 2700k, 8Gb RAM and an Nvidia GTX 580 with only 1.5Gb - everything is set to Ultra at 1920x1080 and it runs fine. Never had the sound issues. One thing that comes to mind though is that I'm using a pair of USB headphones with on board audio decoder rather than relying on the motherboards audio chip.

I'm running a 2GB GTX 660 Ti with 8GB RAM on Windows 7 Ultimate, but for some reason the latest driver patch won't install (keeps failing) - Not that I had any bugs as such, but then I've not actually played since the game went properly live...

I think ram is going to be the best option for now. Once that upgraded to 8, I can save for a new rig for further down the line (bf5 or anything else kickass!!) I'd be aiming for something fairly high spec with a decent gfx driver and a solid state drive

completely uninstall all the nvidia stuff via the control panel, do a clean install. One of the other guys had a problem where he's not got all of the stuff that should have been installed with the Nvidia drivers - eg the bit where you can go get it to automatically set up optimum graphics for each game.
