I never get how people say keyboards are better. you cant relax with a keyboard and mouse you have to sit at a desk for starters.

On top of that there is that the controllers are much more erganomic than a keyboard.

Then there is the point that to drive pc sales games push the limits with mew releases demanding certain software etc forcing upgrades.

How much is new graphics card that will keep you gaming fo a while? Then compare it to the cost of an xbox.

I have a pc as well but for a decent gaming rig it is a lot more expensive.

Nothing worse than a controller. Never got on with them and consigned mine to the junk heap as it was so uncomfortable to use.
I suppose if you are a teenager and have learned to communicate with only your thumbs, an alphabet of 12 letters and vocabulary of under 100 words, a controller is a logical choice.

A pc is more expensive, but you are not buying it just as a games system - plus you get a new console released 4-5yrs, which unless you always want top of the line, you can make a pc last that long before upgrades.

My stepson is a console generation gamer - yet he tried left 4 dead on the PC and agreed it's much better and a damn sight easier to move and aim using keyboard and mouse (he's 17 so has alwyas used consoles)

I have all of them anyway so will get the game on whichever platform suits it most

I am shit hot on a keyboard (been confined to my phone recently) i just find the really uncomfortable to use for long periods of time. And find my hands start to cramp up.

If you struggle with a controller it must be a coordination thing. I play the drums and find it piss easy and entirely more comfortable than ising the arrow keys enter and shift in addition to a mouse.

Just because they are not spaced efficiantly or designed for that use.

Sure you cand use other keys but its a faff. Controllers all the way. especially as i can sit with my feet up and just relax without a keypad on my lap.

It's only on shooter games I am shit with the cintroller - I find the dual analogue sticks - one to move, one too look awful to try and aim and fire, let alone to do it quickly - other games, fine - but by the time I've figured out which buttons I need then tried to aim, I'm dead. Fucking stupid things

Anyway, you can plug an xbox controller into a PC if that's the main argument for having an xbox

Its not the main argument that would be stupid cos you can get crazy cool keyboards.

Having said that i was also under the impression you could use a keyboard with an xbox?

The main point is cost. just looked at what buying a new rig for my own basic use, in parts would cost and a basic gaming rig would be about a third more at least at around ?500 with elements i would need to up grade if i was serious about it in the next six months or so.

Compare that to around ?200 for a brand new elite.

That was the biggest decider for me.

Sure everyone still needs a pc but by having the two seperate means if one goes defunct i still have the other. and there is the additional mate factor in that if you have friends that visit you can loaf around in the lounge playing on it together where as a pc os more limiting.

Well I already have a PC which I need for porn and I don't have any friends so that's the decider for me
(I've yet to see a half decent flight sim on a console which is the real reason I'll stick with upgrading my PC)

Ok what i am saying is that for the cost of a basic gaming pc, your bog standard non flashy one you are looking at around ?500 for the stack alone, in parts, going by the prices i have been looking at.

For around the same money you can get a new 360 and a standard desk top for browsing photo edeting etc with room to manouvre on the upgrade front.

@alien: i have the old style elite. it does the same job as the newer repackaged ones and has been around for a while now must be close to five years. my pc on the other hand is around the same age but effectively can not be upgraded to the standard required due to the change in tech etc. So upgrading can be good to a point but you will be lucky to be able to upgrade that easily after five years at which point you are looking at the cost of a console again.

On top of all that a console is more portable. i have taken mine on holiday with the kids from the home i work at and it became the media centre in a way a pc or laptop would struggle to do.

My sons have between them an X-Box360 and a PS3 and the reason I never go near them is the controllers. How anyone can coordinate those fucking things is a mystery to me. PC every time for me. :?
