Oi! Lookout!

Postby An Absent Humphrey » Mon Aug 11, 2014 10:05 am

Whilst watching the thunderstorm yesterday I managed to finish this - a late Saxon watch tower and brazier, for keeping a lookout against those pesky Viking or Norman invaders.

All completely scratch built, not using any pre-made bits. Did some WIP pictures as well:

And here's some close-up shots and different angle views:

Right, chaps, I'm going to have to love you and leave you now.
Tomorrow I'm off for 10 days walking all 156 miles of the North Downs Way. A chance to get away from wretched society and re-charge the batteries. Can't wait.

Bloody hell, Humph. That's lovely. :froth:

The straw in the watch fire is a cracking touch.

EDIT: Just noticed the dowels used for logs. For some reason I've never thought of using them and I've got bloody hundreds from Ikea around here somewhere. Also, you can get them for free in Ikea if you just go straight to the spare bits centre. In fact you can take lots of interesting little bits and pieces from there and they don't seem to care. :dodgy:
