For some things, you can always count on the Brits. A laugh in a crisis, for example.

A colleague brought this to my attention. At first I thought it was Johnny Vegas taking the piss but with all deference to Johnny this is far more sublime. Northern cookery at its finest. There are dozens of these videos, each more appalling than the next.

My favorite part of this episode is the last few mi utes or so where they do taste testing of the finest Brazilian wines under ten reais per bottle. Starts at 26:42 and is worth a watch even if you don’t understand Portuguese. The final line is they both agree to go back to cachaça: “meh”.

Hey, Bronie! I am watching a lovely and fascinating documentary on early bronze age, late stone age Britain and it’s really got me interested in visiting your part of the Shire someday.

I was wondering if you or anyone else had some good reading you could recommend about the pre-Celtic period?

Here’s the link to the docco, btw. I found it captivating, which means I am truly becoming an old git, I guess, but given your interest in the Western Marches of the Shire, I thought you might be the guy to ask about where I can dig up more (see what I did there)?

Now I want to get a touring bike and ride all over Cornwall and the Welsh Marches.

Also watched Dr. Alice Roberts flounce about a dig in the Fens. Is she now the BBC’s go to pretty scientific face for things ancient?
