I see nothing in that BBC article that refutes the Draftdogers own words " I was going to fire him anyway because of, you know, Russia."

The Rosenstein letter was purely for cover which the Dummy in Chief promptly threw away. His own words.

Comey was fired solely because he would not treat the FBI as a political arm of the Whitehouse and terminate/white wash the Russia probe.

This is not the only case of Dumb Donald treating DOJ as a political minion of his. Witness the reaming of Sessions for "allowing" two corrupt Republican congressman to be charged before the mid-terms. Trump has been crystal clear in oft repeated statements that the AG and DOJ exist to "protect" (his words) himself claiming that was exactly what Holder did for Obama and Bobby for Jack Kennedy. Before the classic RW "what aboutism" starts chiming in on Holder and Bobby Kennedy, the idea that the AG/DOJ exists to protect the President is both ignorant and borderline insane.

Where is the constitutional authority for the “independence” of the AG/DOJ?
The entire Executive Branch exists to serve and protect the President. As it did for Obama.
What was so bad about the “spoils system”? At least it allowed the new executive to clean house, and made ex-government employees find honest work.

Given your professed love of the Constitution, show me where it says anything to that effect?

The Executive, Legislative and Judicial exist to protect and serve only the American people.

As to the spoils system, I give up. You clearly endorse and support the very concept of corruption inherent in the charm of awarding government jobs solely for private benefit of a particular political group. Perhaps a relocation to Venezuela or Kazakhstan where the spoils system is very much alive and well would better fit your political tastes?

I absolutely love how conservatives have abandoned any pretense of distrusting government since the election.

When one votes for a candidate for President, it’s with the expectation that he or she will be able to accomplish what they promised to do.
Thus the need to clean house, drain the swamp, whatever.
I would expect President Kamala Harris or Biden would also have the expectation that the “Deep State” bureaucrats would not work so hard to frustrate them.

Might I suggest Brazil?
