No, John, I'm not sneering at the American working class: I'm laughing at that minority of that class who, like you, think the Republicans are the friends of freedom and the common man. It takes a special kind of stupid to think the capitalist class is your friend when you are living paycheck to paycheck.

But let's be real, John: you ain't a member of the working class: you're a temporarily embarassed millionaire. :D

Mac, you are begging the question that the Democrat party is good for the working class. I assure you that where I live that is not the case. My area is depressed because there are no longer coal mines nor dress factories working. This is the direct result of the Democrat party and the Chamber of Commerce colluding, with massive payoffs to Democrat union bosses, to keep high paying jobs out of the area.
That, and disgust with Bill Clinton, are the main reasons I came a Democrat apostate. I have no illusions about the Republican Party, or Democrat Lite Party.
Personally, I'm a Whig.

In other news, my nephew, Nick just got deployed to Texas with the 45th Oklahoma Nat'l Guard. I wonder if Texas still wants to succeed?

Texas has always wanted to succeed.
It's California that's talking about seceding. All the Californians that want to succeed moved to Texas.

Yes. I'm being snarky. Blame damn autocorrect.
I'm at the point where I type "damn" and "autocorrect" comes up as my default next word.

Better than the Republicans, at any rate. Neither the Republicans nor Democrats are the reason coal is on the way out. Only the Republicans, however, lie to your neighbors about those jobs coming back and their loss being due to [this week's foreign threat].

Maybe it's me, but I don't equate the Germanic languages with sexiness, kinky stiff aside...

I can't say I ever thought of Dutch as sexy. Is it because they figure Dutch people are all free-love hippies maybe?

Ever hear of Sylvia Kristel? Might be due to the wholesome appearance...

Then there are the 2000 Census maps:

That's... what?

I....what?

The countries that do business with North Korea
Wouldn't want to upset India, since it's a counterweight to Pakistan...

The corporations will kibosh any China embargoes...

Coal is on the downer because export demand dried up and natural gas is cheaper. (and also because coal mining is a fucking awful job and anyone that could bailed out)

Free market baby.

Won't stop coal miners from lining up for federal hand outs though. Which they'll get.

Mining and resource extraction heavy states figured that mining would never experience a downturn and that the federal government would be happy to pour money into them, once they were no longer competitive.

Now they turned out to be wrong on the first count, but we'll be subsidizing inefficient and money-losing corporations for a few decades before people finally wake up to it.

I'll vote for the first president to be willing to say "fuck off" to them.

OFM, the California secession movement was nonsense. The leader of that "movement" fucked off to Russia after the inauguration. It was just Putin trying to undermine us.
