For my part I am absolutely fine with the idea of Govt taking part of my pay to cover social security for others who are dramatically less well off. I'm not convinced it is run well but that's a different argument.

Okay, that shows that you are either:

a) a moron, so it would be cruel to debate with you...'cuz, you know, that whole "picking on the crippled kid" thing.

or

b) deliberately feigning ignorance in the hopes that you can get away with being a dick.



Social Security is (as opposed to a Ponzi scheme) a program by which we, as a society, agree to contribute to the well-being/welfare of our elders. One doesn't 'pay into' the system in the sense of creating an account upon which a future withdrawal may be made. One contributes to that well-being/welfare because it's the right thing to do.

It's theft, pure and simple.

If you truly believe that (yahweh help you if you do) then you need to provide an example of wealth held by an individual that has been earned independent of the aid of the society/culture that that individual inhabits.

Everything everyone has is dependent on another. To claim 'mine and mine alone!' is to deny one's existence.

Ah, thought so. the Celtic pantheon doesn't get much of a look in I imagine. it's fascinating how the various Saxon/Scandinavian/German deities are similar but also different.

Last year, i painted up a force of Germans (3rd - 6th centuries CE) and googled Germanic religious symbols to paint something interesting on their shields and banners. Fuck that. I immediately realized I'd look like a nazi if I adorned my troops with those images. I gave them all boars and eagles and geometric shaped instead.
