"Alt-left" isn't a thing. Stop trying to make it a thing. And Robert Byrd apologized and stopped being racist.

So an apology just wipes away all of the evil and bad deeds he was responsible for...how sweet and forgiving you are!

OFM, there are ex-Klan people out there trying to help racists realize the error of their ways. Those are good people. Grampa Apathy probably considers them to be traitors, but growing up and abandoning racism is a good thing and should be encouraged.

Alt-Left?

Maybe these folks:
Antifa: Left-wing militants on the rise
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-40930831

Most members oppose all forms of racism and sexism, and strongly oppose what they see as the nationalist, anti-immigration and anti-Muslim policies that Mr Trump has enacted.
However, as their name indicates, Antifa focuses more on fighting far-right ideology than encouraging pro-left policy.
Unlike the mainstream left, they do not seek to gain power through traditional channels - winning elections and passing bills into law.

Antifa is anti-government and anti-capitalist, and their methodologies are often perceived as more closely aligned with anarchists than the mainstream left.
Antifa does not shy away from militant protest methods, including the destruction of property and sometimes physical violence.

They were present at the 2017 Berkeley protests of far-right speaker Milo Yiannopoulos and at violent protests against Donald Trump's inauguration; they were also present at Charlottesville.
Antifa's roots go back almost as far as NazisMuch like the far-right, chapters of Antifa are loosely connected and highly secretive, and organise mostly on message boards such as Reddit and over social networks like Twitter and Facebook.

A disturbing Antifa website is calling for physical violence against supporters of President Donald Trump and capitalists.

The site "It’s Going Down," which has become a resource for self-described “anti-fascist” activists, encourages violence against anyone it labels a "fascist."

A poster published on the site in April shows a man in a Make America Great Again hat being cornered by a bayonet, with a silhouette of a Nazi in the background.
http://insider.foxnews.com/2017/06/21/its-going-down-antifa-website-calls-violence-against-trump-supporters-capitalists

On other occasions, like the arson-inducing protests that occurred at University of California, Berkley earlier this year, those means can include violence.

That's because Antifa members believe an anarchism, which demands taking actions into one's own hands, especially when the government is deemed unwilling to do so.

What is the danger of antifa some fear?

The protests in Charlottesville, Virginia serve as a perfect example of what Antifa activists aim to do. White supremacists gathered in Charlottesville for a “Unite The Right” rally. All the while, they made no mistake about what their views on race were as they marched to the tune of anti-Jewish chants. Predictably, Antifa activist showed up looking for a fight, because that's what they do. Fight against fascism and racism.

I'll get info on others for ya, since you are too incapable of doing it yourself, Moron.

I would hardly consider them traitors, as is apparent from my derogatory posts about racists.

Tell me Rebby, aside from his sweet "I'm sorry" what affirmative things did Byrd to make amends for decades of his participation and leadership in the KKK and his continual racist activities in congress?

Macunaima wrote:What I find interesting in all of this is that in England, the white culture supremacists are shitting their britches over the spectre of East European immigrants. Meanwhile, in Virginia, the son of an East European immigrant has become the face of white cultural supremacy.

It's so confusing! What, exactly, is this "white culture" they are trying to save?

I think it can be described as preventing white genocide as described in the NYT:
White genocide is a white nationalist belief that white people, as a race, are endangered and face extinction as a result of nonwhite immigration and marriage between the races, a process being manipulated by Jews, according to Mr. Lenz. It is the underlying concept behind far-right, anti-immigration arguments, especially those aimed at immigrants who are not white Christians.

but as I'm not part of that crowd, I can't reply for them.

WaPo on the alt-left:
The term alt-left or violent left has been used by some on the right to describe anti-Trump protesters and Black Lives Matter activists. But it has been used most often for “anti-fascist” groups, also known as antifa, that have mobilized to confront right-wing gatherings, sometimes escalating to violence.

Pittsburg:
Protests planned at Google offices around the country over the firing of an employee who questioned company diversity efforts have been postponed. A statement on the “March on Google” website says Saturday’s protests were being cancelled because of threats from what it called “Alt Left terrorist groups.”

Urban Dictionary:
Urban Dictionary: alt-left

Common positions on the alt-left is being against identity politics, support for socialism, against ... Typically they are tied to hate groups like "Black Lives Matter."

The Alt Left Journal

Though it is Wiki, so keeping that in mind, and for whatever it is worth, here's their take: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Far-left_politics

The Various Factions, Types or Wings of the Alt Left By Ryan England, one of the main Alt Left theorists. From one of the main Alt Left groups on Facebook
https://robertlindsay.wordpress.com/2016/09/25/the-various-factions-types-or-wings-of-the-alt-left/

Another take by a LW blogger:
Here is a brief guide, which outlines various political positions of those who might identify as AltLeft. Of course, not all of these will apply to everyone, and some may apply in varying degrees:
https://www.counter-currents.com/2016/01/introducing-the-alt-left/

There's more of course, but since Rebby ASSURED us there is no such thing, I guess these folks are all mistaken. Right Moron?
