Recommend me a decent courier?

Postby Norton C Wongpower » Sat Apr 12, 2014 6:58 pm

I know it sounds impossible but who's actually worth using for UK delivery?

FedEx international are brilliant but UK have been pitiful. Any good experiences from you lot out there?

Just to be clear, do you just want a courier for within the UK? Not sending overseas?

If so, I swear by Hermes. Used them a lot, never had a problem. Not sure exactly what you need them for though - Hermes don't handle as wide a range of stuff as the big company's.

Just UK, in my experience Hermes have been total carp!

As for FedEx, maybe the Dartford Depot were just a bunch of monkeys but they were useless. It's just for posting batches of greens aroun the country, I'm not trusting RM with ££££ worth of masters.

Surprised to hear Hermes have been bad for you - have sent and received a lot with them, never a problem.

Agree about Royal Mail - how they're still in business is beyond me.

Ever tried Interlink?

RM's next day delivery is always excellent.

Couriers are too willing to dump your stuff with a complete stranger ten doors down the street. Hermes are good at not telling you they've left a package with someone else as well!

Royal Mail Special Delivery is excellent. I have NEVER had a problem with them and all my masters went back and forward between Woody and me using this method and they ALWAYS arrived the day after posting.

You can claim compensation I think if they fail to deliver by the stated time so it really forces them to provide a good service.

They've always been good for me too but I was under the impression that the maximum loss value was £400. Looks like you can get insurance upto £10K but I don't know how much that would be. I don't mind sending a single master but I always get the jitters sending several to a client or a dragon or something!
