Yeah, along those lines. Maybe play with the thickness and diameter of the acrylic a bit though to see what gives the best effect.

I still don't get it. :)

I mean, floating desings, to me anyway, are there to suggest in-game or in-display floatyness. The plinth is not part of the figure's display environment, so setting it apart just doesn't make sense to me. Its a base, floating above another base, and on that second base is some art/craft/little doll. :?

Anyway, not trying to be a debbie downer, I imagine you know your market, and maybe plinth people are into this. It just doesn't make sense to me is all.

If its just a stylistic effect, I think it'd be more dramatic to have a different color wood in there, or polished metal, or something, just to class up the wooden cylinder. 8)

The last picture you posted MH is much better, but I still don't think it works. I think the problem in part is that the top section is still too blocky. I think it would work better if both the top part and the bottom part were more organic in form, almost like two round flat pebbles (picture good skimming stones) sat one on top of the other. If they were wider and flatter you'd be less likely to see the join in between, making the top section appear to be floating. :)

I'm trying to think of a use.

Smaller clear block still.

Broader base for stability?

floaty rock?

I was thinking that the main reason it doesn't look like it's floating in the first pick is because of the continuity between the two wooden parts. If you had a darker or different shaped bottom section, a matt black square block maybe an inch thick, and then the acrylic and circular wood it might give a better effect.
