This happened in the states but could really happen in any highly developed nation. Pia Farrenkopf, who didn't have many personal contacts at the time of her death, died in her Jeep when it was parked in her garage in 2009; amazingly, her body was not discovered until a few days ago. Or at least, it is probably her body.

It's definitely a tale of the modern age, and not just for the electronic element. So many people live disjointed from their communities that they can literally disappear and no one would be the wiser.

I fucking hate ‘community’ minded people. In fact, if I can get myself in a position where it’s so inconvenient for them (such as gripping my car steering wheel) they have to cut my body up as they do it, making it even more disgusting, that’ll be even better. I’ll be dead – I don’t give a fuck. It’s another way for me to score another point against a moribund and trivial society.

That happened just up the road from me and I worked for part of the same company that owns the housing association at the time. The details they're too squeamish to print in the shitty local rag are pretty extreme. He built some sort of automated contraption onto the leg of a pool table and attached a chainsaw to it. Then he started the chainsaw and lay under the contraption.

When the contraption was activated it completely decapitated him. One of the guys who saw the mess he'd left described it as "a fucking abbatoir, like something out of a Saw film."

So come on man, you need to up your game. Dream big.

Last corpse we found at work was a chap who had died two weeks earlier. He lived with some 30 cats, and since they weren't being fed, they started to eat his face. What a visage! I want to be eaten by cats when I die.
