so this is what I wrote over there:
( I was trying to be polite)

as a token female gamer since the age of 7….
the "man-splaining" is going to make me vomit.
you all have good points
(I do admit my eyes glazed over at one points so probably missed some details)
-I love my "degenerate art" too. And I love painting naked chicks. and dudes. not enough of those to paint, alas.

- misogyny is rampant in the gaming world (and the rest of the world)

-Oschmidt…you're coming off as extraordinarily creepy.
"I watched unobtrusively from about 8 ft away and said nothing during the games." *shudder*

Your gentle, concerned misogyny is much more poisonous than any overt holes at the table.
-Thee's responses were strident (enough to annoy Shandy)but are well and clearly stated and I, mostly, agree with him

-Dave… I slap upside the head with a rubber chicken. not for anything he's posted. Just 'cause.

there is so much more I could say

in the end

these are miniatures and games. they can reflect our ideas of the world and mire us in philosophical debates until the end of the universe.
but they are games”

"watching unobtrusively" was just one example of his creepy behaviour.
"the gentle, concerned misogyny" is infused throughout his writing

now.......
I've been informed that he's the same generation as my father in law.
My father in law has many MANY behaviors, attitudes and beliefs that drive me screaming up the wall. The unconscious misogyny is just one example
But, it's all "appropriate" to his and OSchmidt's generation

just as it's appropriate for me to be pissed off by it and shout it down when necessary

not that they'll change their minds but there is just a chance that they might THINK

rant over :)
you can have my caffeine when you pry it from my cold dead hands. And possibly not even then.

I clicked the link. I knew I'd regret it, but I couldn't stop myself. :-|

Nope, there's no chance. Because for them is natural. It is so inherent for them that it's obvious. And you can't just question the obvious.
Just don't waste your time or fret over it.

This thread is like TMP Bingo

Barbie Slave Ship...

http://theminiaturespage.com/boards/msg.mv?id=339302

Featuring

I don't think that that's the sort of ship that would generally be used as a slaver.

this model gives the message that whites were solely responsible for the wickedness of slavery

I was imagining something like Queen Cleopatra's Barge from the Taylor-Burton movie only with Barbie dolls as the Galley slaves in cute little barely-there outfits.

I've been wondering whether the disappearance of that Malaysian Airlines jet is connected with the modern slave trade.

And much more
Confusius he say 'War not sort out who right, war sort out who left...'

 Yes, and it also includes some quite thought provoking responses from Enfant Perdus. Your point?

Please do then pass on my compliments to him -- he's one of the most delightfully inarticulate chaps on TMP, and that's saying something. He's especially gifted at failing to clearly title his threads.

One of my favourites from him was a thread in the 19th century forum asking, basically, why Napoleon was such a cunt. It took a bit of burrowing to determine that he meant Louis Napoleon, but you can imagine how that waved a red flag in front of the Bonapartists on that forum. When some people were confused, he responded, testily, that this post was in the 19th century forum ... so clearly not applicable to Napoleon I!

Another was "what made the wars of the Age of Reason reasonable?"

When readers get the wrong sense from his blunderful titles, he becomes hostile. In other words, he's 100% concentrated entertainment.

That's a fucking classic.

His first post was garbled enough, and demonstrated that he doesn't why The Age of Reason was called The Age of Reason.

Then, despite some quite reasonable  replies, it all goes downhill from there. They're into the semantics of nationalism/patriotism now.

Worse yet, an idiot who fancies himself a deep thinker. The wine and cheese does not surprise me, nor would it to discover that he'd poured the wine on the cutting board and put the cheese in the wine glass.
