Well, as a self-described socialist/communist he was an anti-fascist and accordingly supported the Palestinian people, so his heart was in the right place, but I agree that he was mistaken in supporting a two-state solution.

The Israelis have already carved up Palestine so much that the Arabs there can never have a viable state. There should be a one-state solution, with all Palestinians having full voting and citizenship in Israel and Irael being a state established for all its citizens, not just the Jewish ones. Nothing else will work as a practical matter -- a two state solution will result in Israel, with some Bantustans on the borders.

So it was blocked tubes that finally killed him, oh the irony.

However he was paid £140k a year and yet lived in a housing association house depriving it to someone who really needed it.

I liked Bob, a bit of a relic and very much a marmite character but a grafter and principled.

I did use to enjoy listening to people, who would happily defend the actions of CEOs of profitable companies laying off swathes of workers, because their duty was to the interests of their shareholders not the livelihoods of their employees, moan like fuck about Crow for working for the interests of his workers rather than the wishes of London Transport and the City.

Is that true? I can't be bothered to go back and look and I know I was involved in lots of discussions on lots of forums about Thatch's death; but I don't remember any more than the odd one individual per forum being a bit of a twat about it. My position was clear even before she died: I would have celebrated if she'd died in the 1980s while PM. But celebrating a senile old lady's death is wrong. Most on the left seemed to feel the same, it was only the odd anarcho or Pete who didn't.

When people on the left die the Tory press always make a big thing about how great they were. The message is supposed to be that the ones who are still alive aren't as good so vote Conservative.

I remember being at a Union conference (CPSA as was) when John Smith died. The SWP cheered the announcement. Cunts.

PCS General Sec, Mark Serwotka is younger than Bob Crow was and has had a couple of heart attacks. It seems that militant unionism is not good for the ticker.
It's happening again...
