yes. It would require mental Gymnastics on a par with believing North Korea is a workers paradise, but yes, there is nothing in the dictionary definition of atheism that doesn't let you say 'Jesus? Born from a Virgin in a stable and he's the son of god? what impossible nonsense. Now Monkey, Born from an egg on a mountain top,the punkiest monkey that ever popped,he knew every magic trick under the sun, to tease the Gods and everyone and have some fun ? THAT's a god a rational chap can believe in!'

Pretty sure that if you believe in ANY god, of whatever type then you are a theist not an Atheist :)

It's not only possibly, and requiring no mental gymnastics at all, it's also the default position of the majority of religious people. After all, Christians believe in their God, but deny the existence of Odin without any thought at all. Ironically, they do so because belief in Odin is just based on a bunch of ancient tribal myths...

Yeah, it's called being religious. Talk to a local Christian, Muslim, Hindu, whatever, they'll tell you how to do it.

'Atheist' means no gods. Zip, zero, nada, none. If you believe in one, then you are a monotheist. I'm not sure what the Greek word is for 'some but not all'.

Isn't belief in multiple gods polytheism? :beard:

Yeah, but poly just means 'many'. What if he only goes for two or three? Bitheist or tritheist, I suppose. But then, you're only setting yourself up for an inevitable schism between the bis and the tris, at some point. Plus, it leaves the quadritheists right out in the cold.

Nope. A monotheist is an atheist about 99.9% of Gods from history, a Hindu a few less than that. I'm just an Atheist about one more than a Muslim. You could argue I believe in 3 less than many Christians I suppose, 4 less than a Catholic. People who believe in all gods from history are called hippies who work in The Humanities and should never, ever be trusted.
