Anyone who is qualified would have a good idea of what the market rate is for their skills. I'm very picky and I pay very well. I can't speak for Mr AlienSurfer.

The job you posted certainly isn't something any one could apply for. You expect a lot in terms of skills knowledge and experience (rightly so its not a job a newly graduated student could do) so I imagine the pay reflects that.
