Re: sink holes
After the 2010 and 2010 earthquakes here in Canterbury sinkholes started appearing anywhere here. Most were small in width and depth but enough to cause trouble (cars went into them and a guy broke his neck falling into one off his bike during the quake)
But a few turned out to be very deep (One was found under my mates business. The concrete floor slab wobbled and when they walked on it but when they looked there was now a 20m deep sinkhole under it, the slab was only held in place due to the weight of some machinery on the firm ground.
Liquefaction was the main bastard result of water and earthquakes. Those good old sinkholes soon filled with water or silt so they couldn't be seen.
