Skipp, Humph, Pete and Duff have exceedingly good taste in festival line ups. Either that or they've been rifling through my iPod, CD's and vinyl... :D

Edit: just deleted a double post...

@ Pete, bob Dylan and the band... Fuck yeah, get em to do the whole of the basement tapes, then have the band do the whole of "the band" - King Harvest must surely come!

DAY 1: (This would be the day of music I'd want to see)
Neurosis, playing all four 90s albums in a row
Tragedy

I'd go to this day. Resurrect the corpse of Pig Champion and make Poison Idea play only songs from Pick Your King and that would make it nearly a perfect day.

Pig Champion! The Grief EP is fucking great even if the dude is basically eating his microphone. If we're resurrecting bands, it'd have to be His Hero Is Gone for me. Pig Champion or Behind Enemy Lines could take the fourth slot.

Some difficult choices here, but assuming there's just one stage:

Friday
Junior Murvin
The Abyssinians
Burning Spear
Lord Creator
Gregory Isaacs
Bob Marley & The Wailers (Headlining)

Saturday
The Carpenters
Kirsty McColl
The Tubes
Madness
Dr Feelgood (with Wilko Johnson)
The Clash (Headlining)

Sunday
Dusty Springfield
Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds (featuring Grinderman)
Staple Singers (if unavailable, the Four Tops)
Happy Mondays
Eddie and the Hot Rods
Rolling Stones (Headlining)

I'm sorry, I meant Pig Champion aka Tom Roberts, formerly of Poison Idea, now dead. I didn't know someone named a band after him. I'm going to check it out.

Oops, didn't pick up on that reference, Poison Idea being a band I've never really listened to. Listening now, though, and enjoying. Fast fast fast! Dunno much about Pig Champion the band - a mate gave me a copy of the Grief EP a few years ago and said they're one of the best live bands he'd ever seen. Can't vouch for any of their other stuff, but the EP is good. If you're into the crusty side of punk/hardcore, try Unkind from Finland if you haven't heard them already. They're way better than Pig Champion!

Thanks for the recommendation. I'll check it out for sure. I love crust. I hate crusties.

An Alert Humphrey wrote:As a distraction from that prat on the TMP thread, here's a conversation I've just had over lunch with someone - if you could create your own three-day festival line-up, with bands past or present, what would it be?
You have to have a headline act for each day plus two or three support acts.
I'll go first to get the ball rolling...

FRIDAY
Levellers – headlining
The Pogues
Half Man Half Biscuit
Violent Femmes

SATURDAY
Nine Inch Nails – headlining
Rage Against The Machine
Rancid
The Cramps

SUNDAY
Jesus & Mary Chain – headlining
Bauhaus
Velvet Underground
Billy Bragg

glad I won't be attending your festival :D

That'd do for me too. I'm too old for the festival shit.

Chaps, it's your festival. Enjoy it any way you want.
Miserable cunts.
