Revenue down 10% from last year.
Profit down 30% from last year.

But they're putting a positive spin on it all

Following the implementation of the structural changes just annou nced we expect to benefit from the more focussed selling operation across all channels against the background of a materially lower cost base.

Sales in the first half of the year were down against the comparable period in the prior year, continuing the trend that developed in the second half of 2012/13.During the first half, the rapid transition from multi-man stores to one-man stores and the reduction of trading hours across the Group caused disruption in our retail chain.

We also experienced some decline in sales through independent stockists. We view these as short-term issues and expect to see growth return in both channels. We continue with our store opening programme (27 stores opened, 20 closedin the period) secure in the knowledge that our one man model allows us to ensure new openings are profitable.

In the future we expect to benefit from the more focussed selling operation across all channels against the background of a materially lower cost base

Share price down about 23% last time I looked today. Might be worth a small punt if they go under a fiver.

That obviously nothing to do with their nutso policies regarding indie retailers is it?

They could always move to a cheaper casting medium to reduce cost...Stedercast
It is. And it is not. When it is, and when it is not, is the question or the answer, or both or neither.

Or cheddarcast, the first edible miniatures.

I wonder how much of their decline in sales is due to kickstarter sucking all the hobby dollars to its baleful presence?

If that's the case then we might see GW doing alright this time next year as all those KS backers realise they paid for product they never got or that turned out to be utter shite. At least GW are delivering product! [annoying internet voice]Yeah, but it's shit! Urh hurrrrrh.[/annoying internet voice]

Games Workshop: Fulchester wrote:It is with a heavy heart that we have to announce that due to the massive dip in recent profits and our rapidly plummeting share price that CEO Tom Kirby has had to deal with the problem directly.

We aren't sure why sending the boss to our sister branch, Games Workshop Summerisle during the Wicker Man Festival will help with the current crisis, but we are assured that it will.
