Here, let me address that. I'm Bismallah and Tim. I should really have posted here under my log in name. My views go back to two or three people on TMP who went on about how they were of such high morals that they could not play Germans/Japanese but would play WWII with Allied forces. I mean what in the fucking name of hypocrisy is that?
Such fucking idiotic attitudes pissed me off greatly then and piss me off now. That's what's happening in the TWW thread. I used the analogy of someone who wants to play on a team but doesn't want to do part of the game - the example was cricket or baseball and some tool who wants to bat but doesn't want to play in the field when it's his teams turn to be in the field.
"Hey, we're playing a WWII game. You can be the Germans, here's the scenario that the GM has researched, test played solo and spent a lot of time making models and painting for the scenario."
"Oh, no no, I can't settle my conscience playing Germans, but I'd be happy to play the Brits/US/NZ/etc"
"So, Mr Conscience, what does that say about Joe here who is going to play the Germans? You fucking idiot, let's play Risk - is there a colour that offends you?"
Mike is claiming I'm taking issue with someone who doesn't want to play X. He doesn't seem to understand my analogy; If someone doesn't want to play X, that's fine. However, if someone wants to only play part of X (the allies) because he can't bear the other part of X (the Axis), than he shouldn't be playing X at all, and is clearly judging other people like me who play all of X, axis or allied. Mike doesn't seem to understand that which is why I'm pushing back.
I imagine he's pissed that I posted about it here. I honestly can't say I blame him for that. My thoughts were that the TMP "I play WWII but I'm too good to play axis" were in play. I don't know what the fuck Ivan on the TWW thread is going on about, first he doesn't want to play Germans then he clarified it that he meant campaign versus "faceless pick up" game, though that still reeks to me of the sort judgment I found so idiotic on TMP. If people feel that way, in my opinion they are pretty mixed up.
