Keep telling yourself that Bill. We know you believe all sorts of strange things. What's more, many of us still ARE there, undiscovered by your sock catcher.

The data covers email addresses and IP addresses both of which we know Bill the Insane Twat monitors as well as "posts on social networking sites"
Being a US organisation does not exempt them.
He has until 25th May then a nice email to the regulators could be fun.

And what practical enforcement powers does the EU hold over an American citizen?

Back in the good old days, Imperial Powers (including the good old USA) would land a gunboat to collect fines. Bill lives along the Hudson River, so...
Does the EU have a navy? Maybe Herr Junker could commandeer one of the many French and German vessels that don’t have any guns. Is it too late to commandeer a Royal Navy frigate? They may still have charts.

Err... I think you'll find the French and German ships have guns, the French carrier even has planes, and they make some pretty good missiles. The RN ones don't work in warm water though.

It would require an EU citizen to request their details, data, and posts to be permanently deleted and, if that did not occur, for that same person to then take legal action. I'm sure, upon seeing that said person wanted a post about uniform colours in the Seven Years Wars removed from a site about toy soldiers, a lawyer/solicitor would take that person aside and tell them to stop wasting everyone's time because the relevant authority would not consider worth anyone's time. And also suggest that person grows the fuck up.
On the off chance that this person did want to keep pushing it, just to slight Bill (which is fair enough) then I have to agree with our guest poster - it is hard to imagine what any external authority could really do to a small-fry, one-man, half-arsed operation in New York.
I suspect even they couldn't be bothered to push it.
The best you could hope for is, as suggested above, the server was being run by a large company that had interests outside the US and had a lot to lose. The authorities would have to go for them and they would, in turn, shut TMP down.
But I couldn't see it ever going so far on such a trivial web forum.
Everyone would just look and laugh and the person who tried to bring the case would just be a news feature where all the newsreaders would be sneering toward them and make the person look like the tedious prat they really are and take great pleasure in mocking some sanctimonious, internet-dwelling, toy soldier playing, manchild who's probably never touched a real pair of tits.

And they'd be dead right.

So.
Fun though it would be winding Bill up over personal data, in reality it will never happen.

As usual Internet advice is worth the paper it is written on. The data subject does not have to bring legal action. They make a complaint to the ICO or the relevant authority in the European state they reside in, who takes it up as a case either with the relevant Information Commissioner in the EU, or he relevant countries authorities. The ICO then can bring an action against the offender in the EU jurisdiction. If you think a number of EU ICOs aren't itching to take action against US offenders, then you haven't noticed the Google, Facebook and Amazon cases in the EU.

And you think something like TMP is in the same league as those?
I don't doubt that EU authorities would love to take some of those large multi-nationals down a peg or two. It would do wonders for their credibility.
But farting around with something as petty and trivial as a wargames forum, because someone wants their posting about tank formations of East Germany during the cold war removed in a moment of petulant hissy fit, is not going to get their attention.
I'm sure the silly twat complaining about their privacy and wanting their post to be deleted will have every right to have that done, but I am not convinced that anyone is going to put much effort into it when there are much bigger fish to fry and much more publicity to be gained with companies such as Facebook et al.
That's who they are itching to get their hands on, not fucking TMP, TWW, LAF, Frothers, etc. You cock.

Haven’t you heard that TMP swung the election to Trump by colluding with the Russians?
I have a great big bullseye in my forehead.

That is my favourite thread on TMP for a long time. Outstandingly pathetic

You can say that agai -- oh, you did.

And I see down at the bottom, there, that Bill continues to disavow any responsibility for moderating his own site.
