Actually, when I post news up I get a lot of hits from TMP. While some might not like the editing and "vocal" membership, there's a lot of passive readers that use the site as a news vendor.

Of course a good site for advertisers might not be the same as a good site for gamers.
TMP does have a large membership (even when you ignore the banned accounts and inactive members) and as a result advertising will attract more attention than from smaller sites. On the other hand for the gamer, the large membership leads to much watering down of useful information with general chat, Tango spam and even know-it-all disinformation, making it hard to wade through it all to find what you want. Smaller specialist forums tend to be much better for the gamer looking for answers.

A lot of people delve no deeper than the news page on TMP. I tend to only go the the 18th.Century section to see it there is anything relevant to my work, other than that I only go there following the odd link from here. TMP is a good starting point for someone new to the hobby or starting a new period, but that's because you are likely to find links to other specialist forums that tend to have a higher ratio of useful information to posts.

It's easy to forget just how many wargamers out there actually visit no sites at all or just read the magazines.
The Defiance Kickstarter is a prime example of people completely out of touch with what is being talked about on the forums. You'd think that news about Defiance would have pretty much permeated all the forums by now but even today I noticed there's a new post by someone that must be oblivious to what is happening.
Any news on re-opening the webstore? I'm chomping at the bit o get some bugs and I can't seem to find any store that has them in stock Alternatively, if you could point me to any UK/EU Defiance Games retailers that might still have some that would be great too

Oh, I agree, I was just addressing the question of "why advertise there".

...you only have to work a stand at salute to realise how many people just don't go online at all! Folk asking for price lists and catalogs.

But that's tradition! Price lists and catalogs at Salute are like party hats and crappy riddles in Christmas crackers, no one really wants them but they feel obliged to go through the motions because it's expected of them
