Likely reason one, Bill's oiled up fingers slipped.
Possible reason two, an Editor overstepped her authority and accidentally burned TMP down when trying to update the Manufacturer's Directory.
Outside bets, Bill is preemptively clearing the boards so no one will miss them when TMP fore point ohhhh! is released and there's nothing there.

I'm amazed that he can manage to type at all with his free hand buried up to the wrist in his rectum. Only two possibilities occur. Firstly that he's had a small keyboard grafted to his small bowel or alternatively he controls the site by manipulating some form of joy stick by wiggling his arse.

Why is this a problem, or indeed even happening?

With 6 members of staff working on TMP, just why?

The bastard never even mentioned it being all Frothers fault :cuss: :cuss: :cuss:

Editor in Chief Bill wrote:Something went wrong during the nightly maintenance phase, causing the main forum database's index to fail. I have no idea why. I believe we had a similar problem about five years ago, involving another database. The problem was fixed by reindexing the database.

Now we shall see if this is just a random glitch (I hope) or if it will recur.

This has nothing to do with the database work which Editor Julia has been doing.

It all seems rather vague, let's hope that the system can hold up for another 10 years until TMP 4.0 is ready. I assume he's working towards a state of nirvana where reindexing takes 24 hours leaving people no time to post on the site and increase the size of the database.

Peter Pig has always been one of TMP's staunch supporters

As far as I'm aware, it's Peter Pig's only form of online advertising. Goddard NEEDS TMP.

Plus, he's part ostrich.

I think Bill coded the Peter Pig website - state of the art for 1995, just like TMP.

It could be a lot worse - it could have been coded by the semi-literate 14 year old boy that appears to write their recent Rules.

*Like their figures, quite like Martin Goddard, wish he would let someone that can read english have a dekko at his rule-sets before he publishes them.
