Has there ever actually been a Frothers drive by?

It's one of those foundational myths of the current TMP refime. If it weren't for the threat of Frothers, how would Bill justify anything?

Another Editor down and Bill's raising the drawbridge again.
"Your assumption is that TMP's fortunes are down because of something I'm doing (or not doing). Again, that's your opinion, but there's no evidence for that."

Obtusetrout's doublethink is quite spectacular.

Discussion of religious militias is germane to the Ultramodern board.

Discussion of religion itself should go to the Blue Fez.

Nope, only TMP ones! Still, when has Bill ever let reality stand in the way of a fast buck?

"Frothers looked at us kind of funny, form the wagons in a circle we're under attack! Quick everyone buy a subscription to show how much you love the good ol' USA and mom's apple pie!

Right the imaginary threat is over and I've paid my bills, fuck off back to the dawghouse you grovelling scum!
*muttering* Wargamers... pah! Hate 'em. Back to Skype for me *sickly blue grin*"

No.

But there has been several instances of (poorly) co-ordinated TMP 'drive bys' on FU-UK. Oh, the drama! :D

EDIT: Dammit, the General got there first.

There has been one incident, yes: Operation Troutbake.

Here is the sum total of its history: we banged the pot for a couple of weeks about how we WERE going to do a huge driveby to celebrate the thousandth page of this thread.

And then we did precisely nothing.

Bill became so paranoid that he effectively closed down his membership system and instigated a waiting period for new members... All because of the Great Frothers Threat.

That is pretty impressive paranoia when one reflects that even honest-to-god political sites don't do that sort of shit and that TMP supposedly has a numerous and highly trained editorial corps poised to immediately deal with any trollish infractions.

So I guess you could call that a sort of Tai Chi driveby: we used Bill's own paranoia, megalomania and anal retentiveness to make him take a pratfall.

Phantasmal Frothers drive bys were an imagined thing waaaaay before Troutbake. But yeah, Bill's paranoia certainly gets the better of him.
