Frothers was famous for being unwelcoming years before this thread, and a few good works that bung money at a charity, and being jolly nice chaps at Salute isn't going to change that perception.
I hesitate to say you reap what you sow, but fuck it. You reap what you sow.
There's far more 'TMP rejects' at the less than one year old TWW than here. Have a think about why that is.
Actually that is a large percentage bull shit.
All this place ever was, was largely honest. If you were new and you posted something that wasn't accurate you got hauled out for it.
Maybe I'm a relative newcomer but I never found this place to be hostile. In fact, quite the opposite. I put up a little post about the kids I work with asking for spare models and the response was overwhelming. I had far more response from here, than any other forum I posted on. And continue to be supported in the same way by some that have donated more than once.
The perception you talk of, is largely by people who are perhaps averse to swearing and at times, brutal criticism. So perhaps not for those with fragile ego's maybe? Certainly not unwelcoming.
TMP on the other hand - I found that to be the most unwelcoming environment in my formative wargaming days out of the GW bubble. Ask for a set of rules and it felt like a world war had broke out and I still didn't have any useful answers. That was more than ten years ago.
I have also found that this place helpful for my own hobby. I'd never have put a game on before coming here. Again, the amount of help from various folk on here was instrumental in getting my game on the table for Salute. Even if it was just the encouragment on the build thread.

It's absolutely fine to have a preference, but I think sterile toilet is more than a tad harsh. There is plenty of flavour and personality on LAF, there are plenty more regular users as well. It just has a different approach. And like I say, it's fine if you don't like it.
I think it is fair to say that Frothers as it is now, or was perhaps before all of 'this' should already have been considered as 'dead'. And it wasn't down to any petty argument either - it was down to the forum operating like a flickering light - being down, working, being down, working, being down etc. Then it just went altogether and took some time to get resurrected. For a number of folk who were not aware up to that point, the inner workings got a bit exposed. The Facebook group was set up as a 'temporary' replacement, but when the place was upgraded, the damage was already done.
As things stand, the forum 'keys' remain with a couple of folk who could perhaps be described as the original 'clique' of friends that formed the place. Sadly, either due to time or lack of interest the energy needed to jumpstart this place just isn't there anymore.
It was enevitable that some folk from elsewhere, inc TMP, would come here after Woody's on line undercoever journalism.
I don't really question that either. However, and I'm not sure where I stand on this, I do detect an underlying motive for some of this. Woody keeps bringing up the football thread - the only reason I can see is perhaps as an act of rebellion, I believe someone else wanted to make the footy thread as the 'stand', the alamo maybe.
Where does that leave everything? The old Frothers is dead, it was dead before this, those who didn't or don't see it - I'm sorry, but it doesn't take much to see. What's happening now is some folk are enhabiting bits of the corpse.
If frothers was a 5th of it's former self it may have been different. But it's not. And I don't blame anyone on this thread. I blame the people who a lot of folk warned straight after last years Salute, who just flatly ignored the warnings, the requests for change and effectively failed to take the last chance to keep it the same.
I come back to visit every now and then because some folk, who are good people, still visit, and a part of me still cares about the place. And I do worry about a couple of folk who appear to have changed in their demeanor.
