I'm honestly intrigued by this.
(no smileys, because this is one of those rare serious questions from me)

I can't speak for anyone else, but here is my tuppence worth.

When I first started visiting Frothers in 2003/2004 and then joined in 2005, it was clear that Frothers was a, ahem, "different" kind of forum. Over the years it become known for several things:
1) It was a place where sculptors could get honest, usually constructive, feedback on their efforts.
2) Painters could also get honest, usually constructive, feedback on their efforts instead of useless "looks great" platitudes.
2) It was known to put on fun participation games at Salute that were deliberately unusual in tone and content and where the punters were actively engaged with and not ignored.
3) It became known for its successful charity drives which have raised tens of thousands of pounds.
4) It had the Froth pot where very few things were out of bounds and general piss taking went along side some very interesting serious debates.
5) There were rumours of a mysterious entity known only as "Doc." Sightings were few and far, but always portended significant disturbances in the Force.

Which brings me to the following: I personally keep tabs on this shit stain of a thread by the TMP Reject Refugee Gang because it is what Frothers is known for now, and that's sad.

Now I prepare for the inevitable barrage of invective and abuse from the TMP Reject Refugee Gang as they spit their dummies out in mock outrage because that's all they can do.

With that, I bid you adieu, and I shall cast a coup d'oeil at the football thread.
When I die I want the Arsenal players to lower me into my grave so they can let me down one last time.

Beats me why a thread with no more than half a dozen contributors and about a dozen followers should be such a big deal, it's not like anyone takes it seriously... Actually I think I do know, this and the football thread are the only two active threads in the Frothpot and the longest running thread on the site. There's not much else to look at so people come here.

The "vast majority of wargamers" couldn't give a toss what goes on here. Frothers pretty much lost what it had going for it long before this thread. Various things killed off the community here well before Bill took on any editors. For me the heart of the place finally died when the Rev was driven out. The frequent outages lost people too. People went off to the FB page instead. Some went to "The Platypus" or LAF.
Frothers is not known as the "TMP Reject Refugee Gang", it's not really known as anything at all anymore as it's not really talked about by anyone outside of Frothers!

This thread has just become a form of "Candy Crush" killing odd bits of spare time in the hope of drawing out Bill's sockpuppet.
There's fuck all fun to be had in the Frothpot outside of here!

(By the way, I'd just like to mention that I'm not banned from TMP, I just don't bother to post there  )

And THAT is what I think I object to mainly with this thread - it's sucking the life out of the rest of the forum.
A lack of willingness to engage elsewhere, with other topics (and even pollute other threads with TMP stuff - the Ukraine thread, for example), to offer constructive input - just keep posting here and claiming that it's the only active thread on the forum as a self-justification.
The bitterness, nastiness, and bullying attitude also infects other threads. Oh yes, Frothers always had that edgy reputation, but it was directed and fun when it happened (just like some of the comments and posts on this thread have made me laugh), but for some posters on this thread they've let it be their whole reason and that sceptic sourness infects other threads where it has no place. It's become a parody of itself.

And before I get asked, 'why do I look at this thread', well here's why - I don't always. Many pages can come and go. If there seems to have been a lot of traffic on the thread I'll scan it to see what's been happening. Put it down to morbid curiosity. So, no, personally I don't rigorously follow this thread. But I object to it for the reasons I outlined above - objectively I think it's destructive and it flows over and pollutes the rest of this forum. Subjectively I just don't get why you can't get over TMP and don't get over the obsession - but those are subjective reasons and each to their own.

I could be more sanguine about this thread and have a live-and-let-live attitude if it stayed on here but some of the participants don't seem to be able to keep it here.

I've tried to respond fairly and politely and I'd hope to be treated similarly...

Read what he said again old chap - He said it's NOT sucking the life out of Frothers, that Frothers had the life sucked out of it ages ago. With all respect.

Which participants?

I've not noticed it bleed into many other threads, apart from the occasional Pot thread that was already going south.

And one of the reasons for that was that, beyond the clique that once existed here, no fucker could post anything without having braying insults chucked their way. Frothers was famous for being unwelcoming years before this thread, and a few good works that bung money at a charity, and being jolly nice chaps at Salute isn't going to change that perception.

I hesitate to say you reap what you sow, but fuck it. You reap what you sow.

There's far more 'TMP rejects' at the less than one year old TWW than here. Have a think about why that is.

OK, well what I meant was that it's compounding the problem, that it shows a lack of willingness to improve things. And saying that this thread is creating traffic and footfall and is the most active thing on here is what I mean about self-justification. What about posting other stuff? What about posting other material that may engage elsewhere and widen the scope of the forum, add something.

I agree there was a definite change when Rev left and Redzed and others. But so what? Again, get over it. Move on. Because they've left and it isn't the same is that a reason for running things into the ground? That's the logical conclusion of General's post. That strikes me as nonsense.

I should emphasise, before the inevitable criticism comes that I prescribing what people should and shouldn't post, that I can take or leave this thread, that I can ignore it as well as I ignore the football thread. There has been some good stuff on here, both in highlighting Bill's ways and just because some of it has been simply amusing. But it's the nastiness that is infecting elsewhere on the forum that I don't like, and the self-justification for the continuance of this thread.

OK, well I've said my piece. I've explained how I feel. It'll just go in circles so I'll leave it at that.

I added it to the Ukraine thread, but that was only going to go down the pan anyway and at least it killed off the thread before it turned into a Brony vs Duff political spectacular!

Nowadays it's difficult post anything and 'engage' without condescending comment by some of the remnants of that very same original clique IMNHO.

And some of the threads on Frothers these days are just so painfully dull, even in the Frothzone. Scouting reports is all but dead since Imp fucked off. The rest is just a bunch of middle aged sycophancy.

And why don't some of the nay sayers post some more interesting things to the Pot or elsewhere, instead of griping here?

If Bill is still reading this (Hi Bill :D ), he must be pissing himself laughing.
