True. And far be it for me to belittle what Frothers has accomplished.

But c'mon. The site is named FU!UK. I highly doubt that we are fatally lowering its respectability.

you are doing a very good job. Mistaking a healthy level of irreverence and rudeness for a licence to behave in a way that none of you would in real life is where you have all got it so wrong.

Most of the people here are pretty accurate reflections of themselves in real life... If you lot are really like this then you should be ashamed.

Now I think the point has been more than adequately made... Your increasingly feeble protestations indicate that just maybe it's sinking in. If not then I really don't care as I will be asleep whilst you all have another little paddy.

Goodnight.

*edit* just a quick response to you addendum... you hate this thread yet you keep coming back to it. What does that suggest to you?

I happen to love this thread, as pointless as it is, it fills the idle moments while I wait for greenstuff to bake off. (Fallen London used to fulfill that role, but this is far more surreal!)
I'm sorry you seem to take it far more seriously than most of us do.
I'm sure most of us don't really care where this thread wanders now, it had it's moments of seriousness and they were duly noted in the proper thread. Mostly this is now a kind random jottings thread with the bonus that Bill and certain others feel they have to check it frequently and get upset.
In reality this is just a dumping ground for total bollocks which frankly I'm surprised you hadn't realised. Anything that actually merits serious discussion will be picked out as before and placed in the serious thread! Anyone that actually wades though all 1571 pages of this and still assumes that this is a serious discussion and gets worked up over it... well words fail me!

Exactly, General.

And thank you for reminding us that there´s another thread that simply and concisely tries to lay put all of the "serious" issues this whole mess brought up. This thread here is for taking the piss and its amazing to me that anyone could fail to see that.

BBB, what I want to know, however, is how you suddenly became the Voice of Rational, Mature Wargaming. I mean, I certainly didn't get that memo! How is it that you're able to tell us all, without fail, what "the majority of people" think, either here or at TMP? Was there some secret vote taken that I'm unaware of?

I ask, because in my long experience, when some cunt aggregates unto himself the role of "speaker for the silent majority", he's usually involved in a power play of some sort.

Let me rephrase that: EVERY SINGLE TIME I've seen or heard of someone speaking for the "masses of silent others", particularly when he's trying to shut up a group that outnumbers him, he's been trying to pull a fast one.

So what's your story here, little brown bunny? Dish.

Are you trying to convince what passes for authority on Frothers that you should be given more leeway in representing the group in the eyes of "offical wargaming" for "the good of the community"?

What are you getting out of this quixotic crusade? Or what do you think you will get out of it?

Because there's no doubt in my mind: when you see someone is calling for a group to be censored in the name of "the vast majority of people" who can't be bothered to make their own opinion heard, that man or woman is a poltroon looking to line their own pocket or gain power and/or status. As sure as the sun comes up in the east tomorrow.

So what's in it for you, sweetums?

you are doing a very good job. Mistaking a healthy level of irreverence and rudeness for a licence to behave in a way that none of you would in real life

And that is where you've got it wrong, again: I do indeed behave this way in real life. I am not the least bit ashamed of anything that I have said here in serious intent. I would say it straight to Bill Armintrout's face. I've said worse things to people with far much more power than Bill. There's a reason I got an e-mail today saying that my life is potentially at risk from sure-'nough corrupt cops: I took a sex worker who was raped by said cops down to the U.S. Consulate on Monday in order to register her story in the U.S.' annual global human rights report. The operative phrase here is "speak truth to ppwer"and I have and will continue to do that as long as I am able.

And no, I don't consider this shit here to be even one one-millionth as serious as what I do professionally. But if I am willing to tell Congressmen to their faces that they are frauds and poltroons, you think I'm going to sugarcoat the truth for a hypocritical fuck with delusions of meglomania?

Honey, please.

This thread vs. BBB

It's a bit like choosing between Repiqueone & McLaddie vs. Kawasaki. The former are tedious blowhards, but at least they arguing about something they are passionate about. Kawasaki will just tell you how much he doesn't care and why you shouldn't either.

Just so we're clear BBB, is this despicable witch hunt more despicable than the witch hunts that hounded BME, Galbraith, TWATL and others from Frothers - witch hunts that you no doubt participated in being a long time member, or is it an even more despicable witch hunt serving to expose all Frothers as nasty vindictive bastards with no tolerance of the different? Is it more despicable than the witch hunts that convened to tell the sculptors and painters who posted pictures of their work that didn't meet Frothers exacting standards that their work was shite and they should just fuck off? Or is it even despicablerer? I've been here a while too, I remember those threads.

FFS Bill and the rest of us have spent years trying to make this place like somewhere gamers would cross the road to avoid, and then you turn up preaching love and understanding with your fucking Val Doonican rocking chair and guitar, trying to make us sing Kumbayah and Paddy McGinty's Goat. :cuss: :cuss: :cuss:

It makes a change from preaching goat love.

Sounds to me like he wants a moderated forum, moderated by someone that shares his views. Obviously those that don't share those views should not be allowed to post differing views as the majority of wargamers are unable to make up their own minds about what they read and should be protected from having to make the really difficult decisions in life such as "should I click on this thread if I know it's going to upset me?"

After 1500 pages you can hardly argue that anyone is trying to stop differing views.

Enough was enough a very long time ago, it is now kept going by a few with an axe to grind.

Reference is often made to how many have now left TWP, I suspect a lot have also stopped coming here as a result.

There is no comparison between this thread and past ones referred to.

The "majority of wargamers" don't read this and wouldn't give a toss if they did.

Give it a rest.
