It was always a little U.S. patriotic, "rah, rah, go team!", but there were no holocaust deniers or people screaming about how all Muslims are eeeeeveil (tm). If that shit came up, it got squashed.

What I think has happened is that all that nifty jingoism of the early part of the Aughties has soured into the realization that the U.S. pissed out a hell of a lot of treasure organizing Vietnam II, the sequel. People who were waving flags back then are paranoid and unable to figure out why "their country" let them down. Again. And the economy hit the shitter, so people are looking for scapegoats.

No, it's become worse. It's also a whole lot less useful that it was as more and more of the quality posters depart for greener pastures (or Frothers..... )

Looks like he'll have to take TMP in yet another direction... something with no competition, an untapped market that would appeal to the sort of people he approves of, the kind of thing no other site would want to compete with, something that MontyBill actually has an interest in...

TMP has always been home to Stormfront types. But they're higher profile now than they've ever been and they're getting off with more. Active opposition would seem to be weakening, mainly as a result of the way Bill moderates the place.

As others have said the amount of useful stuff posted there has lessened over the years and the only real reason for visiting is to watch the crashes.
