Of course, his brilliant career mopping gym floors and doing "private investigation" work in Rust Belt U.S.A. has to count for something in that respect.

I mean, ya gotta do what your talent aims you at, ya know?

Turns out his career in the gym was fictional too

The army needs quartermasters, truck drivers and potato peelers, too.

The guy should spent less time wishing he knew what combat is like and writing as though he knows and spend more time regretting that he didn't go into something technical while he was in so that he would have a profitable career post-service.

That guy is Legion4. Use his name FFS, otherwise you make it too hard fr him to search for posts about himself

He was an officer, I would have thought 'something technical' would have been almost compulsory.

How does an officer end up as a shithole sweeper in Hixville Missorah? How does an officer, even a junior officer, end up with such woeful spellig adn grammer skills for that matter?

You'd expect it of a Walt, but not an officer in the Armed Forces of the United States of America. Hooorah!

Well.............

My name is William Calley I'm a soldier of this land.

I've tried to do my dooty and to gain the upper hand
.....

Orifice rank is no guarantee of intellect or ability. If Willum Calley doesn't appeal then look at James Blunt for example. :D One can only hope he was better troop commander than a musician.

To be fair if he were infantry that 'technical' skill would have been getting 30 grunts to shoot roughly the right direction - a full time occupation in itself - and getting them to work out which direction 'right flanking' meant they should go.

Wasn't James Blunt a captain. IIRC Legion4 claims that was his rank too. I'm beginning to see a pattern...

That's been one of the biggest red flags for me. Officers are all required to have college degrees, so they are usually more literate than that. Their primary role is communication, for christssake!

My dad's a retired officer and he also has a better grasp of the nuances around the globe, but maybe I'm biased. He's always spoken of the world as a complicated place, not the "kill 'em all, they're all the same" shit that L4 favors.

A college degree and an honorable tenure as a military officer typically opens a lot of doors when looking for employment. Dad certainly never had to mop any floors after leaving the army. But I suppose that even with those advantages, there are some who could screw things badly enough that they'd have to stay in the shallow end of the income pool well into their sixties.
